This is JUKE. A sound system that will not only bring friends and family closer but also build new relationships between people across cultures by sharing the sound we love.

Ideation
Generating many sketches helped explore different geometric forms for this design. From initial concepts to a more concise form led me to incorporate more design features.
design styling
To capture the buyers' attention and to create interest for the JUKE design, I merged familiar and unfamiliar elements into the design. I believe this bi-sociative theme can spark memorable moments and create a new rewarding experience for users.
PORTABLE
Most people have a home audio system and a portable Bluetooth speaker. the JUKE audio system has two speakers to accommodate for this typical usage; a stationary speaker, and a removable one. The two speakers blend together visually as one audio system, but when they need to be separated, they can stand on their own.
social app service & goal
The JUKE’s companion app can connect the party members within a social space. Everyone who is connected to the JUKE has equal opportunity to share and play songs. Party members can see who shared music, the name of the artist, and the title of the song. Party members can ‘save’, ‘like’ and ‘comment’ other people’s shared information [i.e. title of the song, artist name, etc.]. There are indicators showing which songs receive the most interaction such as ‘likes”.
The goal is to improve social context and to create a powerful but natural social situation to facilitate influence and relationships within a common shared environment.
Why:
We put ourselves in different social institutions to interact. Often, we facilitate our interactions through ice-breakers [physical object, communication media] to ease our transition to more intimate face-to-face interaction. The JUKE aims to be the best facilitator in a party situation.
