project objective

Design a device that can enhance the experience of pouring a beer.

exploration & Ideation

Developing an appropriate mood board for the anticipated design using exploratory insights. These insights led to initial sketches of the design.

Design & Solution

During a typical pour, air meets beer thus producing a turbulent flow. Turbulent flow agitates carbon-dioxide within the beer, creating foam. The design features two independent channels: channel 1 holds the air, channel 2 contains the beer, therefore keeping both fluids separate from one another. This new design generates a smooth flow, also known as Laminar flow.

This design reduces the entropy of the entire system. The curve at the end creates an air pocket which allows air to exit while the beer is being poured.

Another important feature for this design is the thumb grip and an incorporated bottle opener.

Stand-design

A stand was designed to hold the “Perfect Pour”. The objective of this design to create weightlessness of the “Perfect Pour”. Laser cutting thin sheet of metal simplifies the manufacturing process.
